Lyr Auto Trace logic question
CS6, busy picture, auto trace yields many masks. The mask we want gets renumbered almost every frame. I assume that is because AE sees each new frame as an entirely new chore?
Is there any way to mask or otherwise indicate to AE what our region of interest is from frame to frame? So that AE might actually mask the same object with the same #d mask 2 frames in a row? I suppose we could continue turning mask opacity on and off for multiple different masks for literally every frame?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts that might help us find our way to a better place!

Auto Trace, as you note, does not attempt temporal consistency.
You might be better off trying the rotobrush tool which was introduced in CS6 to isolate the object you want.

Thanks to you I am comparing a Rotobrushed version with an auto trace limited by a tight track mat. Thanks again for your suggestion. Adobe can be daunting for the uninitiated like me!
