LUTs in a color managed workflow
Hallo. As we started to relaunch our grading pipeline I faced a challenge of which I am not sure how to handle. So far we already had several LUTs implemented in our pipeline. Our LUTs were already used while shooting (Alexa). Then we recreated them from the pro-res files in resolve as a basis for the daily grading and later for the final grading. This workflow gave us great benefits. Since we made a change over to a color-managed workflow our workflow does not work anymore, as the Luts limit us to Rec709 so that during the trim pass to HDR ugly highlight accidents occur. For a daily tv-format we actually need those kind of LUTs. Are there existing LUTs or something comparable which I can use for the described workflow. So far the ARRI LUT library offered me a bunch of useful LUTs. Thank you in advance and stay safe!

What are your settings for your color managed workflow? are you using ACES? If you have control over your production (from shooting to color/finish), why don’t you create your LUTs in Resolve using your DP feedback?
