Recently a client asked us to do a graphic using lowercase caps (sometimes called small caps). We could not find a way to do this in Final Cut (at least by using only one text generator). We did it in Photoshop and had no problems but it woudl have been nice to have been able to do this in Final Cut. Anybody have a solution?

I knew that Motion would do it. I just wondered if there was a workaround in Final CUt.

    Did you try ‘Title 3D”?

Yes, in Title 3D you just select the characters you want to be a different size and change the size, it works exactly like Photoshop.

The easiest way to do this is to use a ‘small caps’ font, where the lower case letters are small caps & the upper case are large caps. You can look for fonts on linotype.com.

LiveType will also do this without any problems. Just select the “small caps” letters and reduce the size. Very fast to do & export.
