  • Lower third scale linked to text, but keep layout

    Hi all,

I have to animate some lower thirds. It will be a simple animation, just slide in the name from left to right with masks, and slide the title in from right to left with masks. Is it possible to link the solids to the text length, but keep the layout like the image below? If I use SourceRecAtTime I can link the scale or position to the text, but then the layout will stretch out.

In short: Can i change the name and title, and update the background shape layers without stretching it?

    Example lower third: 12319_screenshot20180403at16.05.14.png.zip

This is how I see your issue: You need three layers for one of those boxes.

    1) Layer with an extra long version of your box that can accommodate the longest possible name

    2) A loose piece that matches the right end of your box

    3) A matte layer that is used as a track matte for (1)

Then you can calculate the size of the matte layer with sourceRectAtTime + some padding, mask (1) with it and then move (2) to butt up against the matted main part.
