I am currently working on a project involving fairly low quality footage. Unfortunately, the stock footage effects I am compositing in are hd. Does anyone know of any ways to make a clip appear as though it’s much lower quality? Specifically, lower the resolution, make it grainier, etc. Thanks!

What is comp size of your project?

Depending on your comp size, you can render the Stock footage using After Effects only of you don’t have any video converter.

Convert your stock footage through Render Queue.

Choose Quicktime movie as the Format in Output Module and choose Photo-JPEG in Format Option as as Video Codec. Reduce the Quality to 75%.

Now Check the Resize button and choose the resolution that is good for your Composition settings.

You can save the settings and can make a Template so that you don’t have to follow the same procedure again.

Wow, I can’t believe it didn’t occur to me to convert/render my stock footage into a lower quality! Thanks!
