    Hi,

When recording a still (“photo”) on tape on the XM2, the quality of the picture deteriorates and it looks as if the resolution is much lower than that of a regualr video clip.

I thought that the source of the problem was a too slow shutter speed that caused some shakes in the camera, but testing it incidated that this is not the problem, or better, it is not the whold problem.

I am surprised – such a low quality in stills and such a high quality in video. Same lens, same CCD and same tape. Explanation?

    Thanks –

    Y. Etzion

You are probably shooting in standard Movie Mode (60i – Frame Mode turned OFF) and noticing interlace artifacts in your digital video stills captured to tape. This is more or less to be expected. Turning ON Frame Mode may help to improve the situation by reducing interlace artifacts. You will get even better results by capturing your stills to the memory card.
