    Hello,

we have the new iMac Retina i7 here and are working on some AE stuff in 1080p25. With pre rendering the sequence for playback we see that AE only plays it back at around 19fps and not realtime in 25fps (even with a quarter resolution). I don´t know why the performance is relatively low here. Any suggestions for AE settings, etc.?

I’ve always noticed slight performance hits on Macs, but this definitely seems to be far too big a drop to just come down to an underpowered system. Is this happening regardless of the project, just to rule out a codec issue with specific footage?

The project is nothing special from my point of view. We are talking about a camera flight through some cloud layers. The layers have a warp effect and there is some color correction. Preview is slow in 1/4 resolution, rendering in some DNxHD codec is not different.

Not very much in Ae is realtime. Are you using RAM preview (0 on the numeric keypad) or standard preview (spacebar)?
