I am currently kitting up for a guerilla style doco and I have a big decision to make.

I need a small camera (much smaller than the Z1 or Panasonic P2)

I am currently weighing up the choice between the Canon XM2 (to shoot in DV mode) and the new small Sony HDV A1 (to shoot in HDV mode).

Should I shoot HDV to get those all important 1080 lines of resolution but sacrifice low light performance?

I could phrase this question differently and ask does anyone have any idea when the XM3 is going to emerge?

In the absence of this new camera I would love some feedback from anyone who has experience of both cameras.

    Thanks very much
