I am not sure if this is the place to ask this, but I will start here. I am trying to film into a semi dark room. My pastor won’t let me light the audience with lights and I have cheap camera’s that I am using. I am kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place as my finance committee won’t allow me to get better equipment until I get my act together and produce better quality video. I know there is no logic to this.

Anyway, I have tried low light IR color camera’s and I can see the people but there isn’t any color. Can someone give me a suggestion(s) as to what to try.

This is one of those things where you had to pull off something on the fly to get you by, but with us to prove something.

Also is there a way to brighten the video in VP10 as this is where I really need it?

    Blessings!

Color Curves allows you to boost the lightness….if you pull the center of the curve upward and to the left…adjust to taste and need. Know that it will more and likely add noise…There really is no way to work in low light without a larger sensor (better camera) without adding noise. I just bought a Vixia G10 (Canon) and I am blown away by the low light performance…about a $1500 cam…but great results…
    Good luck!

    Hi,

Would it be possible for you to post a snapshot of your footage?

As an alternative to Scott’s proposal, you might also have a look to my ‘Exposure’ plug-in, which helps saving under-exposed videos.

    Best regards,
    Frédéric

Yes, I can do that. I have been approved of the VP10 and I will get it this afternoon or tomorrow and will post it then.

    Thanks!

Don’t forget a noise reduction program such as NeatVideo to clean up the noise that comes along with boosting a dark video. Properly configured, it can almost perform miracles. The SD version is not too expensive and a lot cheaper than a better camera.

Yes I agree. Neat video noise reduction does a very good job and
has saved me on a few occasions.
