    Suggestions wanted!
Much of the discussion here is about newest/best practices, but my priority is an INEXPENSIVE system to edit SD DV material. I’m familiar with FCExpressHD, so I think I’ll get FCS2. And then – given that I think I’ll be limited to OSX 10.6.8 – what Imac / Mac Pro can you recommend?
    eBay here I come….

    Thanks for your consideration.

I think you need to start thinking about HD, and not striving to edit SD. SD is the past…no one shoots and delivers SD anymore. Sure, some TV networks still air SD, but all shows are shot on HD, and they downsample for those in the country who are SD holdouts…or can’t afford to go HD yet. But you should aim for shooting and editing HD, not chase after 6 year old tech and do SD.

FCS2 and a decent MacPro will edit HD. Although FCS2 is VERY old in software terms…6 years. I won’t work with many of the current cameras sold today.
