Had WXP Pro 32 bit. System got malware and died. New Hard drive W7 Pro 64 bit. DELL Precision 690 workstation not compatible with W7 Pro.
Was told to use Windows XP Pro 64 bit.
Am using Adobe Production Suite CS3 – Can get Adobe CS 5
Any problems using Windows XP Pro 64 bit?
Have been on hold with Adobe for 1 hr and no one is picking up even though they say 4 minute wait

Not one part of CS3 is compatible with a 64-bit OS. Time for a brand new box.

Getting a new version of Adobe is cheaper than getting a new box. Especially the way this one is tricked out.

Dual 3.,0 Ghz ZEON processors, 12 GB memory, 4 hard drives, Blu-Ray, DVD-/- DL/RW, eSata Controller. This system was $ 5K

Oh well, get the drives working properly and then do a migration to Windows 7 Ultimate.

    Thanks for the response.

Did you just buy this box? If so, return it. If not, buy a new machine capable of supporting W7 64 bit. And it’s almost impossible to not run some kind of solid malware killer anymore, unless you are not connected to the Internet. I’ve been using Windows Security Essentials and it seems to not affect my machine performance in any way that I can tell.

    Best of luck!

You should look at all the specs. Unless there’s one of the 6 odd features that you actually need, save yourself $50 and get Windows 7 Pro instead of Ultimate.
