    Hi Everyone,

I need your help. I was watching a tutorial on using a template in after effects.

It showed dragging your video footage from your drive to the after effects footage folder. I did this and had to close the project to work on something else.

When I opened the project the files were not there and they are not in the original folder on the drive either.

PLEASE tell me these are still on my computer and they are not gone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Newbie to AE =(

What, exactly, do you mean when you say “the after effects footage folder”?

If you dragged files from one folder to another on your computer, then this has nothing to do with After Effects. After Effects does not move or otherwise do anything to/with your source files.

    Hi,

In the project panel, there are several folders. One of them is called footage.

I dragged the files to that folder. They are no longer there.

So I did a test with another video file.

I made a back up of it, dragged it into AE just as before. Closed the project and up came a box asking me to save. I am not sure if I saved it the last time as I was on the phone and not paying attention.

That said, I went back to the original file destination and the file was there along with the back up.

Now this is even more strange because the first time I did this, all the movie files were not i the project footage folder nor are they in the original folder I dragged them from.

    Ughh.
