lost footage, HELP!!
Hello there,
I’m really hopin someone can help me out here. I am shooting a long term timelapse, over a period of five months on the panasonic vx200, video mode interval set at 1 frame per minute. I went to offload footage from the camera last week (i have been doing a check twice a week) to find the camera appeared to have been switched off as it was on, but not recording. The camera is secured in a fixed position in a cabinet, locked and secured but powered from the mains, People can access the socket, which is where my suspicions lie.
When i checked in the sequence viewer to see the effect on the footage, I was faced witha white rectangle with red borders, ie nothing had recorded. Can someone confirm that if the camera is switched off whilst shooting you will lose the entire sequence if shooting on P2 cards?

If the camera loses power while shooting it will corrupt the clip, but you may be able to repair the clip in the camera. There is a repair clip function there in the MCR menus.

The P2 system is designed to protect you from losing footage. It “closes” the file system every two seconds (during normal recording; not sure how it works for interval recording); that means that in a normal circumstance the most you’ll ever lose would be the last two seconds.
Try the “repair clip” function, as Jan said. I bet it’ll work and your footage will be just fine.
