  • Lost audio whem importing downloaded mpg files into FCP

Posted by Brad Goodman on September 9, 2005 at 4:34 pm

    Greetings,

I’m doing a little home project for family members. I’ve downloaded two mpg files. Both the mpg and self-contained QT movies (when I’ve brought the two MPG files into QT Pro and saved them out as self-contained) play with audio when palyed through the QT player.

But when I try to import either into FCP I lose the sound. No matter how I try to export them from QT Pro the sound is not there and is unavailable in the options tab.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Try to export out of Quicktime Pro as AIF and 16 bit 48khz. You must separate the audio from the mpeg track before you can import the audio.

    Hope this helps-

    Thanks for your help,

Hummmm … aiff isn’t a choice. How would I go about separating the audio from the video without somehow losing sync?

    Thanks

    Also wondering ….

Why doesn’t the self-contained mov file keep the audio? Where does it go when I try importing it? It’s there somewhere. There’s audio when just playing the mov file via the QT player.

    Seems kind of frustrating.

    Thanks,
