Activity Forums Adobe After Effects lossless vs. none

    I don’t know anyone who uses “none”. The files are big, and lossless (QT “Animation”) is just as good, in the opinion of many.

    Here’s a link to codec info. Hmm … a little outdated, but good for this discussion.

    I figured that was it, but never really delved..So in what situation would you use ‘none’? I often use uncompressed AVI when outputting from AE to go into an NLE (on a PC) or targa sequence if going to the clipstation, then the editbox.

    What are better, more file size sympathetic alternatives that keep the footage essentially ‘uncompressed’ quality wise then?

    If you are ready to pay a bit of money, have a look to Sheer (Mac or PC). Top quality (lossless) and the smallers files (compressed) in hearth.
