  • Loss of resolution when importing into Final Cut

    Hi Guys,

I am so frustrated with importing Titles from Motion into FCP. The titles look great until I bring them into FCP. I see titles in Movies, Television, and more and they are so crisp. With mine, they are shaky and you can’t even see some of the text. What am I doing wrong? Can someone please bring some light to this> Tell me how you guys are doing it step by step?

    Sincerely,

It would be easier if you told us step by step how you’re doing it. Then we could diagnose the issue.

It may be due to your sequence settings in FCP. If you’re working in a DV codec (CompressorDecompressor), then all those spankin’ clean 8 bit graphics created in Motion are now been “tortured” with 5:1 compression when brought into the timeline of the FCP project.

This is one reason people work in an offline/online workflow. Once you have your edit down, recapture the finished sequence in a better codec. Then bring in your Motion project and things should be golden. Or, start with a better codec and just do the whole thing at DV50. Not the best, but certainly better than the DV codec.

Not sure if this is where the problem lies, but it is common enough that it may be your situation as well.

    Hope this helps.
