  • Losing sync at render

Posted by Scott Smith on March 19, 2014 at 2:25 am

I have a fairly simple project that is not behaving.
It consists of about a 2hr talk that I have trimmed down, audio from the AV folks at the venue, and a simple intro and closing. Everything works great in Vegas. When I try to render it out, audio and video lose sync. I’ve tried everything I can think of with no joy. I’m about to put a camera on the preview screen and be done with it. Anything else I can try first?

    Thanks!

Try rendering out the Quicktime Photo-Jpeg format first and see.
If not, try rendering out the audio alone, then drop it back on the
timeline, then do a final render.

Thanks Steve. I’ll try it. At over an hour to render though, experiments are growing tiresome. 🙁

    (1) I tried Quicktime Photo-Jpeg with the same result.

    (2) I rendered just the audio, and brought it in to the same scene as the Quicktime Photo-Jpeg. Still bad sync.

    (3) I just brought the audio in to the original scene and everything lines up. In a couple hours I’ll know whether it keeps sync at render.

Any idea what is causing this? If it’s something I’ve done, I don’t want to do it again!

Hard to say what could be causing that. Try a reinstall also.

Here’s another bizarre development. Since it plays fine in preview, I thought as a last ditch I would try a screen capture of that. Once I fire up Camtasia though, it’s out of sync again. Argh…
