losing frames over time
We are working in Final Cut version 5.1.4 and we have a quicktime clip that is exactly 30 seconds long. We are trying to loop the clip to 30 minutes for an automated channel. When our editor copies and pastes the clip out to what should be 30 minutes, he gets extra frames or is short frames depending on if the sequence is drop frame or non-drop frame. He has been unable to get the looped clip sequence to the desired 30 minute duration. Has anyone encountered this problem and if so, is there a solution?

DF and NDF have nothing to do with clip length.
They are simply a system of locating frames, and do not contribute to “real” running time.

I appreciate your feedback. I was trying to point out that changing the frame rate from drop to non drop in the sequence yielded differing results but neither achieved a true 30 FPS. The clip we are looping was created at true 30 FPS, not 29.97 or any other rate and in Final Cut, looping it out to exactly 30 minutes doesn’t seem to work or add up. We keep getting extra frames or a shortage of frames. Any ideas?
