  • Looping time Remap with Expressions

    Hello everybody,

I tried to loop my time Remap Keyframes with the “LoopOut” method. The method works fine with every other property Keyframes but doesnt affect my time Remap Keyframes. Do I have to consider someting special in this case?

    Thanks

    Martin

Ideally the TimeRemapped layer should be a nested comp (for non-movies) and the TimeRemap value should point to the nested layer’s source – not the comp where it is being nested. Then depending on the loopout type you’ve chosen, there are restrictions to make it work – such as the first and last keyframe values should be identical, otherwise there will be a jump in the way the loop occurs.

Hi Roland, thanks for the reply.

You mentioned a few details that could help solving the problem. I thing I have to add a few details within my projekt. The Layer I want to loop is a nested comp (with a lot of stuff in it). I didn’t change the “time” with the time Remap function, just set two keyframes as in- and out-points for the loop. Do I have to “use” the time remap, what means change someting, that the loop method will work? ( Im at home at the moment, otherwise I would give it a try).

Hope Dan or Mylenium can help

    Cheers

I think we need more info. Is your pre-comp the same length as the comp it’s nested in? If so, you have to set some keyframes around the area you want to loop and delete the last one that AE added when you turned on time remapping.

If your pre-comp is shorter than your main comp and you want to loop the entire pre-comp, after you enable time remapping you have to extend the duration of the pre-comp with the little slider gizmo, set a keyframe at one frame before the last keyframe that AE added and change the value of the last keyframe to zero to get a perfect loop. I’m assuming you’re using the “cycle” flavor of loopOut().

Ohhh guys I am so sorry for bugging u.

After Dan mentioned the Keyframes I realized that I totaly forgot that AE automatically sets Keyframes on the layers in- and out-point when applying the time remap function. The nested comp is longer than the maincomp so I couldn see the last Keyframes. Thank u (both) for helping me out.
