  • Looping Precomp Dropping Last Frame When Using loopout() Expression

    Posted by Joshua Gilbreath on November 2, 2016 at 10:04 pm

    Hello all!

    I am using the loopout() expression with an Time Remapped precomp to loop an animated character’s walk cycle. This was the process I completed to create the walk cycle.

    1. Precomp layer
    2. Enable Time-Remapping (TR)
    3. Apply loopOut()
    4. Go to last Time-Remapped keyframe, go one frame before the last TR keyframe and create a new frame
    5. Delete the original last TR keyframe

    My understanding is that this should fix the “blinking” issue that occurs when using the loopOut() expression. It does indeed fix the blinking error, but now I am losing the last frame of my walk cycle, so the cycle ends be before it can complete a full cycle.

    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thank you much!

    Paste the first keyframe over the original last keyframe instead of deleting it. BOOM 🙂

    Hardly a genius! I only have some experience and glad to share it.

    Also, make sure the layers in your pre-comp extend beyond the last frame of your work area. Then you shouldn’t get that ‘blinking’ at the last frame.
