  • looped composition causes frame mashup

    hello,

i am running ae cs6 on osx 10.9.4 here and ran into a rather strange problem,

i am using time remap and this expression: loopOut(type = “cycle”, numKeyframes = 0)

to get character sprites animated ..

at some point i noticed that the looped/ extended composition is flickering from time to time,

i do get flickering that seems to consist of all the animation’s singluar frames displayed at once .. i have no idea why that happens..

at first i thought it might just be a playback issue and a restart of ae fixed the problem… well, i was wrong..

does anybody know this problem or even better knows how to fix it?

    so long,
    juergen

As I recall, when you loop time remapping like that, once you enable time remapping, you need to set a keyframe the frame before the last keyframe that AE creates, then set the value of AE’s last keyframe to zero. I don’t know if that’s the root of your problem, but that’s my guess.

    hey dan,

i got to tell you, when working on my current project i was searching a lot for expressions and other ae related stuff, i always bumped into one of your posts and usually you were providing the answer to the problem.. impressive and great. thanks for that.. : )

your guess concerning my current problem ain’t the solution, sadly..
i am aware of the create- a- frame-behind-the-last-frame-set-by-timeremap-and-replace-said-frame-with-your-newly-created-frame issue ..

my loop does not suffer a gap but a mashup of all the frames the initial animation consists of, a character is walking (say 7 frames) and in the looped composition at some point all 7 frames are piled up, this happens repeatedly

thanks for the effort though ..

turns out that once this issue occurs in the project and i render the clip anyway, then i will have the mashup in the video file as well

but if i restart ae and reopen the project before rendering the file comes out clean…

    strange

    I’m experiencing the same strangeness.

But I’m glad you mentioned restarting worked for you. Worked for me too. I just hope I don’t have to restart every time I make a new loop…
