I do this often and it bugs me when I do. Accidentally slide my mouse and it creates a loop region. Of couse when I play and it gets within that region it stars looping If I drag it to minimize the region of course it then sticks on that one frame. How can you delete the loop region or turn it off, or something to keep this from happening? I seldom ever even use the loop region for anything, just not a normal thing in my workflow.

    Thanx guys
    Charlie

The best way to solve your problem is to go to the “Options” menu, and click on “Prefrences…”. Go to the “Editing” tab and you will see 3 checkboxes at the top. I suggest that you UN-CHECK the “Enable looping on events by Default” option. You should then CHECK the “Collapse loop region when no time selection is present” option. Things should get easier.

Here are some other things you might want to be familiar with, concerning “looping” and selecting areas:

When what you described occurs, you can press the “loop Playback” button on what Vegas calls the “Transport Bar” (Immediatly under the timeline) Another thing that’s nice to know is if you right-click what Vegas refers to as the “Marker Bar” (this is the bar right above the timeline and the ruler) you have the option to “Loop Playback” (same thing I described that’s on the Transport Bar), “Set Selection to View”, “Set Selection to Project”, and Select Loop Region”.

You can either play around with these things yourself to see what they do or you can look it up using the Vegas Online Help, provided with Vegas. The Online Help describes everything I have just described (in a clearer manner too!).

    I hope this helps,

    Michael M.

That’s alright, Charlie. We’ll take care of you.

When setting up my system, the “Collapse Loop-region” is one of the first things I uncheck. I don’t mind having loop regions when I want them but want to be able to make them easily go away (i.e. with a single click).

Use the “Q” key to toggle looping on and off.

Anytime you get a region selected, you can de-activate the selction with a right or left arrow on the keyboard. If you have a shuttle device, jogging a frame will also de-select. The region will still show, but not be activated.

Has anyone found out how to delete a loop region (not just toggling it off)?
