Maybe we should also take a look on lightworks. well, it’s in the beta phase but the roadmap sounds pretty good. and it has got many pro features.

I agree. The Beta PC version has been out for a while. No word on Mac.
Maybe the FCP X boondogle will light a fire under them to get the Mac version done.

I have a system, it has stuff in it, and stuff hooked to it. I have a camera, it can record stuff. I read the manuals, and know how to use this stuff and lots of other stuff too.

As the roadmap says, they want to get a Mac and Linus version at the end of this year. In the meantime I will get familiar to this software. I just checked it a little bit and its amazing fast and the trim tool is outstanding.
