I have been shooting my documentary feature on a panasonic dvx 100b. I have been advised to switch to HD. 1. what camera is most suitable for documentary shooting in HD – mid range
    2. I have over 40 hrs of footage on dv (24p), will it be a problem mixing later?
Am considering a Canon DSLR but not sure how good it is for docu shooting
    Appreciate inputs

CS5.5.2 may handle the 24p, but, this is a cinema speed/codec
, you may need a good computer.

I use a Canon 5D Mark II in HD 1920 x 1080p 25 fps with excellent results but, you will need a Rode Stereo Mike for improved audio, hardly middle of the range. The recording codec H.264 mov may be an issue in editing on anything less than an i5 or i7 computer ?
and/or a Canon HV 40 tape based at 25fps, this codec is easy to edit and data transfer is at 25mbps professional rate .

    Enjoy the trialling.

    Thank you Bob,
With all that additional expense, I am inclined to stick with DV for this one. Thanks for your inputs.
    Good luck,
    Meghna
