I have a few questions, I’m trying to spruce up the podcast/vidcast I do and I know I’ve heard the name of this before and I swear it’s like 3/4 or something similar, if anyone can tell me the official name that would be great but anyway is there a standard for the effect where someone is speaking and their name appears on top of a graphic in the bottom left corner of a video, like a newscaster? Also Is there a way to easily automate this when you have lots of them so they all look identical with different text or is it a matter of going into photoshop/illustrator and creating each one? If there is a way to automate it is Vegas, Premier, etc easier than another? I’ve started to use photoshop so that so I can line the text up perfectly then I just have a bunch of PNG’s with transparency. Lastly I’m kind of drawing a blank as to what to put behind the text, usually it’s some kind of simple colored graphic but I can’t seem to come up with anything that’s just simple is there anywhere with stock graphics for these where I can at least get some inspiration? Right now I’m currently using Sony Vegas Platinum 10, I also have Platinum 11 but went back to 10 as it seems easier to use for lots of text.

    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Nick

The term you’re looking for is Lower Third.
There are a number of tutorials (both Photoshop and Vegas – YouTube is a great resource for this) on the web or you can buy pre-made ones from companies such as VASST.

Thank you, I knew it was something third but couldn’t for the life of me remember!
