Looking to build a system based on PanoProHD720
Hello Craig,
We are a university looking to develop a streaming package based on Wirecast. We produce using a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon-3GHz Tower, OS 10.5.8 with 4 Gigs of RAM.
For cameras we use a Panasonic AG-HVX200P and HPX500 in the Panasonic ProHD720 30PN format. Our goal would be to capture Panasonic ProHD 720 30PN footage to P2 cards at each camera and have the signal via firewire recognized by Wirecast. At this point in the software evaluation it appears Wirecast does not recognize PanasonicProHD720.
If there was a method that would allow us to shoot HD at the camera and send a 16:9 formatted signal from cameras to Wirecast then we would consider moving forward on a purchase of the following equipment and would look to the forum to comment.
3) Sonnet Tech Allegro Express FireWire 400 PCIe cards
3) Vewnex FireNex Cat5 repeaters for camera to card extension
1) MacMini with Snow Leopard Server installed
For live streaming we would place the MacPro Tower and MacMini within our university network. Both devices would have static IP addresses and priority for QOS could possibly be established between them. Each would have 100Base-T Ethernet connection. Supposing we would like to create an H.264 file for playback on Mac, PC and smart phones, how would we best guess the number of connections that could hit the stream at any one time?
Thanks for any suggestions. We are excited to replace a single camera realProducer live streaming system with what looks to be a multicam graphics system that will get us to any computer and many phones. Very nice bump for us!
