Looking for the proper codec to export 2k footage for compositing work
Hello everyone!
I’ve just finished editing 4k footage on PPro CS5.5 on a Mac. I would like to export the film in 2k
for broadcast. My VFX artist has asked for a copy of the film in my chosen broadcast format for
compositing work.My first choice was to export as a Quicktime file on PRORES HQ. The VFX artist would prefer a
a Quicktime file. Of course, I couldn’t find an option for a PRORES codec and soon learned that
I would have to have FCP or Motion installed in order to have option.I would purchase FCP if I absolutely had to, but I would love to avoid that. So, what are my other
choices? What are my best choices? Any other option in Quicktime for 2k export?Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Pretty much any codec you want! Comparable to ProRes HQ, you could use DNxHD 220x or DNxHD 4444. Depends on how space and how fast your hard drives are.

Thanks for the help! I just discovered that what everyone else knows..that I only have to download compressor to get the prores codecs. But let me ask one more stupid question…When I download compressor will those new codec options just show up in my Ppro export settings? Or are there more steps that I’ll have to take? Thanks!

2K for broadcast? Nothing is broadcast in 2K. 1080i is the highest it goes.
