exploding buildings , so my goal is to blow a buildin up sounds easy but the effects am looking for is moderate .
what am looking to do is have a simple video footage of a building then some how remove part of a building make a patch then get that patch to explod so once its exploded the remaining parts show half building broken how to do that

as you can se in this top video the top of the building may be easy to remove with photoshop and make patch and have it shatter later in after effects , but problem comes in when the building has other buildings behind it , you may say just patch the background buildings to but , am trying to learn how to just make the forground of the building blown up shatter leaving the background building/house intact.
