Looking for ideas how to make an idea possible…

March 13, 2019 at 3:54 pmHi. I have a DJI Mavic Air. I would like to fly 15 1km flights in succession and try to stitch them together using either a special software or editing technique to give the illusion of one continuous shot.
I realize this sounds crazy and pretty much impossible.
Just wondering if anyone out there has some ideas on how they would go about this project.
Thanks
Erik

March 20, 2019 at 12:16 amApply for a waiver from the FAA for Section 107.25 – Operation from a Moving Vehicle or Aircraft. If you can prove you can do this safely, and get the FAA to sign off on your waiver, just follow the drone in a car and do it in one take.
Otherwise, forget it.

April 5, 2019 at 3:55 pmDoes your rig have GPS course plotting and geofencing? My idea is, you program the autopilot to waypoints of identical altitude, and heading for each new start/stop point of the segments. To stitch the shots together, you’d want to try a morphing effect. Because of the time shift and lighting shifts, etc. it’s not going to be perfect. One way to hide that could be to command the camera to slew from a front-down view to a side horizon view as you get to the end of a section, then cut back to the forward view at the transition point on the next one.
If you want something truly continuous, Blaise seems to have the right idea.

July 12, 2021 at 6:38 pmNew FAA rules allow flying drones from a moving vehicle as long as you’re not carrying a payload and you are in a remote area (my simplified explanation. Please check the new FAA updated rulings)
