    Hello!

I have only recently started making videos and at the moment my knowledge on it is very basic!

Each time I have tried to do something, it has meant heavy searching on the internet (forums, youtube etc) to find answers for what I’m trying to do….. and it sucks!!!

What I could REALLY do with, is actually sitting down with someone for a day and just go through the programme and how to do things.

The programme I use is Sony Vegas 9; I’ve made a couple of very basic videos but I really want to take this a lot further. I want to be good!! and I want to get a lot better, fast!

So…. is there anyone in the west midlands that uses the programme and willing to help me out here?? I’ll buy you a lunch! 😀 I’m close to Birmingham and also Stoke on Trent.

I know this is pretty unusual but I’m convinced the best way for me to learn is to simply have a full day with someone who knows the programme inside-out… so if anyone could spare the time I’d really appreciate it!!

Hey Lozzy, I know the feeling. Whenever I have to learn a new piece of software to learn, I look for video training. I buy a lot of training. That’s what inspired me to become a trainer and now I work for VASST. We have a pretty comprehensive line of training for Vegas called VASST Absolute Training for Sony Vegas. Our DVD Beginner’s Bundle is only $99 and contains the first three (3) volumes of training in that series to get you productive quickly. I cover DVD Architect in that set and Douglas Spotted Eagle (one of the other forum moderators here) does the Vegas sections.

The great part about this is that you can go back and watch it over and over and get more out of it each time as you learn more. You can’t get that from a one day session. Also we are right here to answer your questions. So if you see something on the DVD that you don’t understand, you can ask us right here.

Just something to consider if you can’t find anyone in your area. Good luck and welcome to video editing (it’s creatively addictive) 😉

    Hi Laura,

I’ll second that of what John has said. The training DVD’s are great. It’s like having your own teacher standing by your side as you view the training Disc. Plus, the bonus you get is the Professional help by all the experts here free of charge on the Creative Cow Sony Vegas Forum, on the Sony Basics Forum, and from experts all over the world. I’,ve been here for years and I’m still learning 🙂

    Good Luck!

Quick question. I was wondering when someone buys one of these tutorials, do they have the right to sell them later, say that for whatever reason they didn’t find the tutorials useful or that they no longer feel they need the keep the tutorials in their library ? Or does the licensing from the tutorials prohibit that ?

I had the same problem as you and would’ve paid for airfare, meals ,lodging, etc. Instead of that, I printed out the entire instruction manual. All 400+ pages. I got a bunch of highlighter pens and went to work.
I imported videos into the timeline and tried all the things I was reading about. You will be amazed at how fast you will start getting comfortable with the software. I keep the “book” next to me when I work on a project, and refer to it all the time. I’m no expert, but the people at Sony Vegas forum are really helpful. Now, hit the books, Laura!
