    Hi All,

I am looking for a quiet as possible raid 6 thunderbolt solution, around 16 to 24 tb.

I currently have a 16 drive Cineraid PCIE/SAS that is blazingly fast but is so loud it really needs a server room

(anyone want to buy this 16tb unit from me with very low hours with areca card?)

I know SSD’s would super quiet but too cost prohibitive.

Also i recently read about some new raids that use a combination of SSD and Sata drives, but there were only raid 1 and 10.

Anyone know the advantage to this mixed disc approach?

If you really like your current RAID array, why don’t you buy a noise suppressed rack for it? The cost would be far less than a new T-bolt array.

The best raid systems are not quiet.
    They need the fan power!
So a silent rack is your solution,

    cheers

I actually bought the DAT Optic 8 Bay thunderbolt2 raid in their quiet chassis and it is in fact very quiet, even sitting near me.
