I almost purchased two Audio-Technica AT875 Short Condenser Shotgun mics until I realized they are really designed to mount on the camera itself. I am looking two good mics to place on stands in front of a stage to pick up sound for plays or weddings. I will run the sound from their into my camera. Let me know what is the best mic for the job and then what is a cheaper mic but will still get the job done. Thanks

Hello Mitch and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

    Here are three truths:

Camera mounted mics are really a last resort.
If you’re doing professional work, you can’t afford to buy cheap.
A mic straight to the camera is not as good as a mic through a good mixer to the camera.
