    Hi Guys,

I am using the excellent red giant Look Suite for a lot of effects. The only problem is when I apply one preset to a clip and then a different one to another and add a cross dissolve between the two clips very often I get white flashes on the transition.

Not sure if anyone has had this problem before? It seems if I fiddle with the transition or edit the parameters in the presets it sometimes fixes it but it obviously needs a re-render (which can take upwards of 40 mins for a 20 second clip!)

Just wanted to know if I am doing something wrong? I have got the same in After Effects but that would mean exporting the whole clip and adding just one effect to the whole output rather than each clip.

Anyone got any ideas? Many thanks.

Try using multiple tracks and overlapping the two clips. Then put a single ended cross dissolve over the end of the first clip. If that doesn’t work without the flash, animate the Opacity instead.

I will give that a try, thanks stefan!

By animate the opacity, do you mean Keyframe the Opacity down to zero with an overlapping clip to mimic a cross dissolve?

    Thanks again. Jon

Are you using The Look suit in Premiere? If so, how? I can only use mine in after effects.

Yeh I am, Copy the Plug-In from your plug in directory in the AE folder into your premiere folder.

Dependant on the Look Suite version you have it will work fine. Although I was previously using Premiere 7 and there were no presets, upgraded P2.0 to 6 months ago(havent got the balls for CS3 yet!) and works great, although..

You will need a hell of a graphics card or 3 minutes of rendering will take 30 mins plus previews are non-existant.

There is a list of compatable cards on the magic bullet website. I got a GeFord 6800 Ultra (As I Only have AGP) and it previews ok, but the renders are very quick indeed, compared to previously. You will also need a good Power Supply as all these cards need two more power inputs..

If you have got PCI Express as your graphics option get real time card which they reccomend, and you get realtime previews. They go for the same money on eBay as all are 1-2 years old now and in terms of graphics cards are old timers, but great for me/us!

    Hope this helps..
