look at this product !
Posted by Bob Zelin on July 11, 2006 at 11:16 pmI love Creative Cow – I just pulled this off the Canon DV forum.

This looks incredible – actually, everything this company makes looks incredible, and I never even heard of this company.

One big red flag for me. Click on “Company.” Nothing there.
All I can tell is that it’s a Russian company because their entire history is listed in three sentences under “History.”
Not sure if they’re not web savvy or it’s just not a legit operation.

Just to be absolutely clear here, I’m not saying they’re not legit because they are a Russian company. I’m just wary of the website and the lack of information contained therein.
If any of our friends on this forum from Russia have experience with this company, I’d love to hear from them.
The cameras they are touting on the website seem remarkably similar to what the RED group was pitching at NAB this year. Solid State cameras that feed off to this hard drive that Bob pointed us to.

My thoughts exactly.
Never heard of them, never seen the products shown at NAB, IBC etc.. and virtually all of them had shipping Q3/ 2006 delivery dates.
and no pricing….

July 12, 2006 at 4:08 pmI was very interested in their website. I had the same feeling as Walter and Gary, but I’m going to do some further research. I’ve ordered a demo disc of raw footage from them. And here is some of their pricing info on their 2k camera.

July 12, 2006 at 10:28 pmI would be very concerned about service and tech support. Can you imagine the cost and trouble it would be to try calling Russia for tech support in the middle of the night or on weekends?
Unless the company has an actual office and service center with real employees here in the US any such great deal would be less so.
But then again if you are based on that side of the world it may be more ideal for you.

July 12, 2006 at 10:38 pmI forgot to mention what about dealing the sale of gear passing thru Customs and any user taxes or additional importation “fees” which are due.
Another major reason for a US office.

July 30, 2006 at 4:43 am….and now all you yanks realise what everyone else in the world has to deal with sending things to the US!
There should be a network of floating citadels above all countries for worldwide, same time-zone, low-postage, instant feedback support.
