long time Vegas user but cant fix terrible preview performance in 9c

I have my preview window set to auto, so the quality of the playback automatically adjusts to whatever quality it takes to play the video smoothly. It rarely defaults to anything better than “good-half”, but the feature usually keeps the video and audio in sync, even with multiple video and audio tracks. Transitions are another story. I can’t get smooth ones til after the project is rendered. Hope this helps.

Im having exactly the same issues with 9c. My machine is an i7/6gbram/Raid 0 and I can get even the simplest projects to play back smoothly at any preview setting. Running the resource monitor does not show anything out of the ordinary. Very low (1.5gb) ram
usage, moderate HD rates and the CPU barely ever going above 10 percent. There is no correlation between the stutter/freezes and
CPU or HD usage. Im stumped. I have minimized startup programs with Norton Utilities, routinely run anti-virus and Diskpeeper….nothing
seems to make any difference. Im about to jump ship and go with Premier.
