Long Project
Just to ask, Can I use AE to make a long project, like 45 minutes?
I have a mixture of pictures and video. I want to do something creative with the pictures, in a 3d setting and then go to some video, this will go back and forth thougt the project.
I have read a while back that its not a good idea to make such a long project in AE, but don’t know if this is true. The only other thing would be to go back in forth between PPro and AE.
What do you think. -

I have not had much luck with longer videos especially with alot of effects without it having errors and stopping the render. I would make several shorter ones as uncompressed and piece them together in Premier Pro. A 45 min video with 3d would take a very long time to render and could error right before it’s done. Hi Mark,
I would not recommend using AE for such long projects. Even for short projects like 5 minutes, don’t even go there… unless it is one long piece of animation.I would probably do a storyboard first, load that in PPro or FCP time everything (roughly)and start working in AE, and as soon as you have finished animation part, replace the parts of the storyboard.
This way you can keep track of what is needed to be done, and avoid long render times.

Thanks for the response. Last night the more I thought about the project, the more I realized that there was no way I was going to do it all in AE. Karin, your right about the storyboard and starting the project that way. I appreciate all the comments. It’s good to know I’m on the right track.
