October 25, 2005 at 8:20 pmHiking up the contrast and saturation would be a good start; crush the blacks & add a fake fisheye effect.

October 25, 2005 at 8:53 pmyeah, i’ve already been playing with those, but im not getting those looks of weird colouration across seemingly random areas, not yet anyway with just those 2.
If anyone gets close, dont be shy to show us. -

October 25, 2005 at 9:04 pmI’d add a layer with the ramp effect applied, tinted in some fashion with a funky transfer mode over the hue/sat effected footage. If you need the same thing randomly applied across the frame, try a fractal noise layer applied the same way.
You might need to change those layers on every cut, to make the effect less noticeable.

Basicaly, use curves to add contrast in different channels (RGB). To add contrast, you must do a S shaped curve. You can add global conrast to the RGB channel and then fiddle with R, G or B separately. I put this filter on an adjustement layer.
You then need to add a black halo using a radial ramp on a solid layer set to multiply. Then another, smaller, set to add, for the central bleach. You put those two layers between the source picture and the adjustement layer.

October 26, 2005 at 6:37 pmHere’s another one that adds a slight “film look”. Apply Hue Saturation to an adjustment layer at the top of the comp and desaturate. Apply curves and adjust the individual R, G, and B to make the straight line look like a jagged line (maybe 8 or so points each?). Apply another Hue/Saturation underneath the curve effect and adjust saturation back up. Go back to your adjusted curves and fix to your taste (ie more green, less red, etc) Add salt and serve.
