    Hi
I had a rough jpeg of a small logo and I brought it into Illustrator and did the vector logo using pen tool. Deleted the unwanted baground source image layer and tried to import that layer into AE but the layer in my comp looks all black and nothing appears.

When I tried to save that file as PSD it came OK in AE. Could anyone of you explain why? I still prefer illustror’s vector based artwork in AE as the sort of magnifying effect I am looking for works good with contionous rasterization option of AE and this is not available for PSD based layers in AE.

Try changing the background color of the comp. If it is black, and your logo is black, you won’t see anything.

On your vector art layer add the effects>render>fill option and set that to whatever color you wish.

Thanks to Steve and Chris for replying.

    Dear Steve
No that was not the case. Logo had two colours in illustrator other than black, but still used black and white as comp background color.

    Dear Chris
    Let me check your suggestion.
