May 13, 2014 at 8:24 pmWe tested it. It loads XML about 100 times faster now (5 seconds vs 20 minutes). It also no longer creates 100 layers in the Logic project.
Retiming still doesn’t come across though.

So it might actually be usable now?

May 13, 2014 at 8:33 pmFrom the release notes:
“- When Logic imports Final Cut Pro X XML, it now organizes audio tracks according to their assigned roles in Final Cut Pro.
– Audio is now exported as 24-bit in projects exported to Final Cut Pro X XML.”https://support.apple.com/kb/TS4498
Am I right in thinking that if the first one is correct, you don’t need X2Pro anymore where you did before for this? (Not talking about all the other features of X2Pro)
Can anyone test this? Maybe it needs a new version of FCPX to work…

May 13, 2014 at 10:30 pmI think you’ll still need X2Pro if you are moving directly to ProTools. My understanding is that audio levels move from FCP to Protools via X2Pro. I had issues getting audio levels to move over to Logic via FCPXML.
Also, via xml, it doesn’t turn off unused audio channels that have been muted in the inspector. X2Pro will do this with regular clips (but not with multiclips).
That said, the xml transfer now works with both roles and subroles (yay). It’s a step in the right direction.

May 13, 2014 at 11:18 pmIt’s a pain, but you might want to try disabling instead of muting. The disabling via cmd opt s (show audio components) then disabling tracks with V. Before Xto7 supported the muting, the disabling worked.

May 13, 2014 at 11:25 pmHey Bret – I would do that, but timelines can get sluggish when you have lots of poly audio files with channels turned off in the timeline vs the inspector. Disabling in the inspector seems to fix that.

May 13, 2014 at 11:51 pmDidn’t work for me when components were muted in the timeline and visible and also muted in the timeline and then hidden in the inspector.
