Hi all, after an exhaustive stretch of searching on this topic – it seems we’re all in the same boat regarding logging tapeless media. Though, most threads were from a few years ago..maybe some things have changed. My station is in the tapeless transition and shooting more and more tapeless media. The problem we’re finding is that it’s extremely difficult for a producer to log at their desk and then use that logging information later in an edit session. For now, we’re importing all footage into the systems and working backwards from there. Has anyone found a better solution to this workflow? We’re working with .m2t files, P2 files, and possibly XDCam files. Down the road, we plan on getting CatDV and SAN solutions…but for now…what do we do???

    thanks in advance!

Tony….See my FB message for a more extensive discussion…

    but in a nutshell…

Can’t you log in PPro for now?

Projects can be imported into other projects in PPro…

And the Fields (columns) of the PPro Project can be customized extensively.

So the Producer logs in a project at her desk…

then the project file is imported into another Project in the edit suite/session giving you access to both the clips and logging/marking data…
