  • Logging TC during shoot for later capture

Avid used to have a handy little app called Avid Media Log that would read TC from the camera and allow a PA to log clip information live during a shoot.

We’re getting ready to do a massive one week long shoot and having someone be able to hit a hot key, drop the TC into a spredsheet or, ideally, a FCP bin, enter a comment or description, scene, mark the good takes, then export into FCP where we could capture just the good takes, that would be great.

Does anyone have a recomendation on software, best practices or whatever to do this?

    Thanks!

Last time I looked into a solution for situations like this I found something SIMILAR: https://www.scriptsupervisor.biz/
There is software there for logging what takes are good and bad, and how coverage works, however, the device to do it requires you’re running sync sound, and if you’re shooting video, you’re most likely not using an external sound recorder/tc generator.

Also, it does not export to FCP.

    Perhaps, again, CatDV?

Besides the second time I’ve suggested this here this morning, I’ve never used it myself.

there’s also HDlog. Perhaps that may help.

what I would like is a simple program that has IN, OUT and maybe a comment or two, that exports to an .xml file that Final Cut can read as a capture list.
