Logging Footage – Sorry this is so long winded
At this time we are logging footage with an Media100 844x system. The only thing the system is good for is creating great large thumbnail views (2″x2″) of video in a bin.
For logging purposes, we have the system set to record in a window dud mode (visable timecode). After we have capture about six clips into a bin, (of a certain tape series) we use snagit and print out the page and put it into our Picture Log book.
We have BetaSP source tape from the early 80’s and the Picture Log books have been the only way to find a shot that is off-line (they have been a life saver).
HERE IT IS…We are scrapping out the 844x’s (we have 2) and replacing them with new Intel (dual core) MAC’s and we will be using Final Cut Pro as our editing system. FCP does not have a great 2″x2″ clip view in their bin that I can Snag and print out? Can anyone suggest a great video cataloging software that could meet our current needs? I am sure we can, at this point, keep an online catalog, but it would be nice to also have a printed version off-line as well?
