logging footage and there’s a problem…
this may have shown up already on here, but i couldn’t find it, so i apologize if this is a repeat question.
i’ve been shooting a short these past two weeks and everything’s been going fine. i watched my footage on a monitor after every shoot and everything looks great. then i started logging footage into final cut hd and there’s something wrong. i shot 24p on the dvx-100 and the footage is coming out with these weird digitized lines that look like vertical interlacing problems. that’s the only way i know to describe it, because i’ve never seen it before. my first thought, because this is the first place i noticed it, was that it had to do with oversaturation of reds, but it’s showing up everywhere. i didn’t use any moving shots, so it doesn’t have anything to do with motion, but i’m a little panicked, because it looks like crap.
i tried logging it with the camera and then with a deck, but it shows up with both. a friend told me to try turning the signal to analog by running the camera through the deck, but i’m afraid i’ll lose resolution by doing that. i’m going to try it anyway, just to see if it works. i also read that there’s a plugin for audio/video sync, but i’m not sure if that has anything to do with this. i’ve tried a couple of settings in final cut to log the 24p footage and those don’t work…i’m at a loss. if anyone has had this problem or knows of its existence, i would love the help. i’m worried that all of these days of production have been for naught.

Can you post a still of the problem? Most likely it’s dirty heads. Usually this can be corrected by running the head cleaner.
