Log & Transfer Overwriting Files
Thanks for looking at this strange issue. I’m using FCP 6.06 on an Intel MacBook Pro. I’m using FCP Log & Transfer to convert family home camcorder footage to ProRes 422 for editing. THANK YOU SHANE ROSS FOR THE VIDEO TUTORIAL! The new family camcorder is Sony HDR-CX150 shooting AVCHD to internal hard drive. Original file structure from camcorder has been backed up.
This is the first time transferring from this device. I tried transferring directly from camcorder before watching Shane’s tutorial video. Camcorder and footage came up fine in L&T. There are 283 clips total on the camcorder. I transferred successfully until about Clip 140 where I got a red ERROR icon in the left column. Some files would get an error, some would transfer and OVERWRITE previously transferred files. Once I sorted out and re-transferred the files that were overwritten, I copied the entire file structure from the camcorder to another drive, per Shane’s tutorial. Again, everything came up fine in L&T, clips play fine in L&T. The same files that once came up with an error now transfer without error, but they overwrite previously transferred clips. Moreover, if a 10sec clip overwrites a 15sec clip, the rewritten clip is now the 10sec, plus 5sec of black to show that it is a 15sec clip in the FCP browser even though L&T still shows it is a 10sec clip.
I’ve used L&T from P2 successfully at client facilities before, but my experience is extremely limited. This is my first time trying to get the footage from this camera.
Thanks for your help!
