  • Log & Transfer from HVX footage incomplete. Sad!

I spent my entire weekend shooting some animation footage with the HVX200. I shot in 720P/30P. Everything played properly in the camera. I am having difficulty getting the footage into Final Cut Pro. When I log and transfer, the clips play perfectly fine in the preview screen. When I drag the clips to the timeline however, they do not play in their entirety. For example, an 8 second clip in the transfer preview screen is only a two second clip in the timeline. It goes through all the motions of transfering it – I get the spinning arrow and a filled in dot next to the clip. I apologize that I don’t know all the techinal terms. If anyone has an idea what I can do to save my footage I would greatly appreciate it! I am a bit heartbroken about it!

Well, DVCPRO HD 720p is a 60 frame format. So if you shot 8 seconds it might have imported as…well, I would expect 4 seconds….but you said two? How about going into the Log and Transfer prefs and unselecting REMOVE PULLDOWN?

I don’t have experience shooting stop motion and importing, so…take that as you may.

Thanks for your speedy response! I will give that a try. I don’t think my footage is messed up because it plays in the camera and in the transfer preview menu correctly. I think the problem is just getting it to mesh in FCP. I was never very good at the technical details! I guess I have a lot to learn! The strange thing is that not all the clips were incomplete transfers. There were a few that went into the timeline perfectly fine and they had all the same settings. I will keep trying!

    Forget Log & Transfer

    Get: Raylight for MAC

    https://www.dvfilm.com/raylight/mac/index.htm

You can scan an entire CONTENTS folder in seconds and start editing….
    I have not used Log & Transfer – well – hardly ever….

Thank you Thank you Thank you! I unselected “Remove Advanced Pulldown and Duplicate frames” and everything worked! I really, really appreciate it!
