Log to Lin Transfer in FINAL CUT PRO
Hi. Please help if you can.
I pulled in AVC intra footage into FCP log and transfer that was shot LOG C on a D21.
The footage is milky and noisy. I understand that I need to do a log lin switch but I do not know where this needs to happen.
Do I have to pull it into FCP or Color or Shake or use Gluetools?
My client want’s the reference clips they edit with to have a say ARRI 200 lookup baked into the footage (obviously as a cut copy for the director).Please assist me as I am hitting a brick wall at the moment.

Color is best suited to grading log material.

AVC Intra is a Panasonic P2 format. The Arri D21 shoots in Arri Raw format. These are very different formats.
You can run everything through Color to make a log to lin conversion, or you can do this in AE, Shake or Combustion.

Color cannot do log to lin conversions from Quicktime media (AFAIK). It does log to lin only with DPX log files.
But if your purpose is only for reference, there is a way to do a ‘poor man’s’ log to lin conversion using the ‘Levels’ filter in FCP. If you can send me one frame of your movie, I could tweak it to make a filter and send it over to you.———————————–
