I want to do a shoot and capture it in 10BUC directly from the camera to Hard Drive via SDI and an AJA IO. Is there a good way to effectively log and capture clips from the resulting, very long QT file as you would from a controllable deck? I’m trying to avoid having to store the entire shoot (long clip) on my array?

I have tried using sub clips, but so far, it still requires that the entire footage remain on my array.

Anybody know a good way to solve this?

    Thanks and regards,
    Eric

Make your subclips. Toss the ones you don’t want. Then run it through Media Manager to copy it to a new project, deleted unused media. That’ll give you QT files of just your selects.

    Thanks for your input Tom.

Your suggested method of using Media Manager to create a new project with subclips solves one of my dilemas. However it does not seem like it will facilitate recapturing of media if I wanted to rebuild and edit the project at a later date. Or do you have a solution for that also?

    Regards,
    Eric
