  • Log and transfer with prores422 HQ ???

    Hi everyone!

My camera records 1080p 24mb/s. When I log and transfer it to FCP (6.0.4) it becomes 14MB/s. It doesn’t allow me to transfer with ProRes422 HQ but only with ProRes422. Any idea how to keep 24MB/s?
    Thanx! 🙂

    Hi Robert,
    You are mixing magnitudes.
Megabits (mbs) with Megabytes per second (MB/s).
    1 Byte = 8 Bits
You camera records 24mbs, that means 3 MB/s.
When you convert it to Prores, get bigger (112 mbs); if you convert it to Prores HQ will get even bigger.
If you want to keep the original file size that means further recompression.

    Hi Rafael!

Thanks for the quick reply! Now you surprised me…..I’m not a big computer geek I’m more creative 🙂
I thought it compresses my file and reduces the quality. Actually I am satisfied with the image quality but I thought it is better to keep the bigger mbs if I want to work with the colors. So anyway thanks for the information!!! 🙂
I checked your website and I saw beautiful shots 🙂 Are you in Thailand? What kind of jobs are you working on recently?
