I gave some AVCHD files to a colleague who is using Final Cut Express. I am using FCP7. He tried to log and transfer the files but whenever he tried to move a clip into the transfer queue it loads for about 15 seconds then turns into a red stop sign with an exclamation mark — above it it says. “1 clip queued – idle”

Why won’t it transfer in FCE when it went into FCP& just fine?

Assuming your colleague is using FCE 4 (which I believe is the first version that supported AVCHD), here’s a shot in the dark — are they running and older PowerPC-based Mac (G4 or G5)? AVCHD support requires Intel.

Yep, Walter’s right. FCE running on non-intel chips doesn’t support AVCHD.

This is all part of the master plan to get you to upgrade.
