Log and Transfer destination setting
I am sharing an external drive on a project – and the drive was removed while my project was open. Now, when I try to resume logging and capturing, the project seems to have lost the connection.
Here’s what happens: I can see all my reels, and all my footage (which are on the external drive) – I can set in and out points – and play the footage. But in terms of adding clips to the “queue”, the window says I have “0” total free space – and in the status section I get a stopsign. Strange…in actuality, I have 167 GB free space on my external drive. So, how do I reconnect it? Any thoughts?

It didn’t sound like you’ve restarted FCP or your Mac?
The first step in Troubleshooting anything with computers is to quit and restart the computer. Once you do this, and restart FCP, everything should behave correctly.
FCP may need to relink the media during start up; just browse to the location of the capture footage and FCP should relink the rest of the project-if needed.Good Luck,

Yes – I’ve restarted everything and plugged everything back in. I believe some setting may have been changed. How do you “set” the log and transfer destination? Maybe if I can reset it, I can get it back up….what’s strange is that all of my footage is connected, the program and my computer sees the drive – so it must be a setting thing, right?

So FCP says there is no room on the capture scratch?
Obviously reset the capture scratch to see if it changes. If not, change the capture scratch to another HD to see if more space comes up.If FCP still can’t capture to the HD, it’s probably an OS problem with the HD. Empty trash. Check the HD in the finder to see how much space is left?
Trash FCP preferences and reboot.Good Luck,
